CART Stenographer [Infographic]

CART is an acronym for “Communication Access Realtime Translation.” It involves the converting and displaying of verbatim speech-to-text in realtime to either one person or to an audience. It is usually accomplished by a stenographer, who uses a stenotype machine and computer-aided translation (CAT) software to convert the steno notes into English text.
