Lead Like a Girl
Thanksgiving is fast approaching! There are pumpkin spice lattes and warm apple cider at every corner. November is a great time to reflect on all our amazing blessings. Listing everything I’m thankful for would take up more than a year’s worth of posts, so I’ll zero in on my gratitude for being a woman business owner in today’s market.
I am proud of Stevens-Koenig Reporting’s success and hope that leading by example will inspire all women, young and old, who are entering the workforce to wholeheartedly follow their dreams. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. Try it. If you fail, you’ve learned one way that doesn’t work. Get back up, dust off and try it a different way.
Now, all that “I am Woman” advice being said, I’ve learned over the years that strong leaders are only as good as their team. Luckily, I truly do have the Dream Team – 15 ladies strong! We relish our girl power and celebrate it regularly through ongoing training, team building, social gatherings and in all the big and little accomplishments that come with each client interaction.
A friend recently shared a video on the topic of “I’m Enough” (and I’m woman enough to admit I cried the first time I watched it). I hope you will find it as moving as I did:
No matter your title, skin color, age, size or credentials, make sure to embrace everything that makes you exactly who you are because it’s who you’re supposed to be. Try something new, take “failure” out of your vocabulary and look at those attempts as learning experiences. Try, try again. Be determined to fulfill your destiny to be really, really good at something!
For me, that means leading SKR to new heights of service and commitment to our clients, coaching our team to be confident in their skills and to always provide service beyond what is expected. We’re going out each day with the goal of intentionally building trust one client at a time. I want to wake up each day, hit the ground running, and lead SKR like a girl. A girl with an award winning team!
